MP: Belarus-China bilateral turnover exceeded $8.5bn in 2024
Over the past 30 years, bilateral trade has increased more than 140 times, exceeding $8.5bn in 2024 (the highest level in the history of Belarus-China economic relations) – as stated by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belarusian National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko, during his recent meeting with the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress of China, Zhang Qingwei
Mr. Sergeyenko noted that China is Belarus' second trading partner after Russia, and is also one of the top five foreign investors in the Belarusian economy, “Chinese technologies are viewed in our country as the basis for the industrial potential development. I am confident that the further development of the Belarusian economy based on innovation and high efficiency, the creation of new industries and the modernisation of existing ones will open up additional prospects for the growth of trade and economic ties with the People's Republic of China. We also support the expansion of co-operation in the humanitarian, educational, and cultural fields.”
The Chairman of the House of Representatives expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the national football stadium and the international standard swimming pool. “On the part of the Parliament – and the President also voiced that – we express our great gratitude to the Chinese side for the national football stadium and the international standard swimming pool built in Minsk at the expense of the technical and economic assistance of the Government of the People's Republic of China. The national football stadium was officially launched recently [on June 7th] with the participation of the President and the youth national football teams of Belarus and China. That was a truly significant event in the sporting life of our country," Mr. Sergeyenko stressed.
