Mothers awarded in Gomel

A solemn ceremony took place at Gomel’s Cultural Centre on occasion of Mother’s Day

Thirty-four women of the region received awards, and the Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Gennady Solovey, commented, “This touching holiday is celebrated in our country for a quarter of a century. On this day, tribute is paid to a mother-woman who gives life, educates, experiences joys and sorrows jointly with her children. This is truly a great work and huge responsibility.”

According to Nikolai Rogashchuk, the Assistant to the President – Inspector for Gomel Region, Mother's Day is a very significant holiday for Belarusians. From the cradle to grey hairs, maternal love warms and supports us, while remaining the main moral guideline throughout life.

Yekaterina Zenkevich, the Chairperson of the Regional Council of Deputies, also joined the best congratulations and wishes.

The region’s heads stressed that the state never stops taking care of motherhood and childhood which are closely united. Many laws are in force in this sphere. At the same time, the social base is developing. It aims at strengthening health, improving education, and ensuring proper lifestyle for mothers and children. Special attention is paid to large families. In the south-eastern region alone, the number of such families is annually growing by 5 percent.

The events devoted to women and mothers are held countrywide these days.
