More than half of US states banned TikTok in government facilities

Thirty-one American states have banned the use of the Chinese social network TikTok on government devices for reasons of state security, CNN reports

In addition to restricting the TikTok social network on government devices, nine states have banned additional Chinese apps, and four states have proposed a similar ban.

In addition to TikTok, a number of states have banned apps such as WeChat and AliPay, which are linked to China.

Earlier, the US Senate approved a bill prohibiting the installation of the Tik Tok application on electronic devices of the federal government because of fears that the Americans' data will be transferred to the Chinese government (since the social network belongs to China’s ByteDance).
