Military expert: deployment of Russian weapons in Belarus is issue of strategic deterrence

In his talk with the STV channel, Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Scientific Work – Head of the Educational and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of Belarus, explained which Russian missile systems can be deployed on the territory of Belarus, sb.by reports

“It is a matter of strategic deterrence at present. We are talking about the need to avoid possible aggression by the states that see us, as they say, as a strategic enemy, which should be defeated accordingly. It is precisely for these purposes that the relevant documents were adopted in Minsk [at the recent meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State]," the expert noted. “The task has been set to fully prepare the necessary material base and logistics in order to deploy these missiles on the Belarusian territory.”

Speaking about which missile launchers Belarus will receive, Mr. Bogodel noted, “We will regularly inform our citizens. I think it is not only about the medium-range Oreshnik complexes, but a set of missiles that should guarantee peace on our land.”
