“As a reminder, Windows 8.1 will reach the end of support on January 10th, 2023. After this date, this product will no longer receive security updates, non-security updates, bug fixes, technical support, or online technical content updates,” the company said in a message posted on its website, also recommending to replace devices – that do not meet the technical requirements to run a more current release of Windows – with ones that support Windows 11.

The corporation explained that it would not offer an extended security update programme for Windows 8.1.

"Continuing to use Windows 8.1 after January 10th, 2023 may increase an organisation’s exposure to security risks or impact its ability to meet compliance obligations,” Microsoft added.
