Merkel refused to participate in settlement of Ukrainian conflict

In her talk with the Sette weekly, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel said there is no question of her possible participation in the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis

Answering the relevant question, Ms. Merkel said, “There is no such question." She also suggested how the Ukrainian conflict would end, “Someday it will end with negotiations. Wars end at the negotiating table. There is a difference between an imposed peace – which I, like many others, do not want – and open and friendly talks.”

Ms. Merkel also answered a question about the policy she pursued towards Russia and Ukraine. “At that time, I made decisions following a logic that still ‘seems reasonable’,” she said.
