MEP: EU must stop demonising Russia and start dialogue
The European Union should stop demonising Russia and start a dialogue with it in order to honestly discuss the existing problems – as stated by Fernand Kartheiser, a member of the European Parliament from Luxembourg, TASS reports
In an interview following his visit to Moscow on May 25th-28th, he said, “My talks in Moscow have shown that a dialogue between Europe and Russia is not only possible, but it can be carried out in an open, rational and constructive manner. Instead of demonising Russia and trying to isolate it, it is necessary to seek contacts and honestly discuss the existing problems.”
Mr. Kartheiser stressed that ‘the policy of sanctions, which has only a minor effect, must be abandoned in favour of finding solutions through negotiations and compromise’. The European politician stated that ‘the long-standing traditions of Russian-Luxembourg friendship lay a solid foundation for such a dialogue’.
