The sanctions pressure imposed by the West on Russia has led to a shortage of energy on the planet, also creating the threat of famine – as stated by the leader of the ruling United Russia party, Dmitry Medvedev, RIA Novosti reports

Mr. Medvedev stressed that Russia is making every effort to form a multipolar world, but faces pressure from the West, which it exerts through sanctions. "The result of this is a threat of world hunger, energy shortages, and other artificial problems that affect millions of people in developing countries, including on the African continent," he said.

Mr. Medvedev noted the need to prevent ‘a humanitarian catastrophe, to which these events are essentially pushing’. He believes it is necessary to develop concrete joint action plans at the global level to resolve a difficult situation and unite ‘in the struggle to build a better future for us and new generations’.
