French President Emmanuel Macron broke an unspoken military taboo by agreeing to send AMX-10 RC infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine, The Telegraph reports
Newspaper columnists Joe Barnes and Nick Gutteridge noticed that at first glance, the AMX-10 RC – armoured fighting vehicles with a 105mm cannon installed – do not seem to be anything special. However, thanks to this present, France was the first to send Western-made combat vehicles to Kiev, Lenta.ru explains.
“The red line has been crossed, the military taboo has been broken, moreover, by the most unexpected of the candidates,” the journalists said.
They also write that with this decision, the French President surpassed the US, Germany and Great Britain, which were among the leaders in the military support of Ukraine.
