Media: London concerned about AUKUS prospects under Trump

Politico’s sources informed that those in power in the UK are concerned about the future of the military partnership between London, Washington, and Canberra (AUKUS) once Trump takes office, TASS reports

As the European political news outlet states, Trump’s opinion on the co-operation between the three countries under that alliance is still a mystery to London and Canberra. There’s ‘a lot of queasiness’ in the UK government about Trump revising the terms of their partnership after taking office, or postponing the related defence projects.

According to Politico, that uneasiness is caused by the fact that the AUKUS terms require the US to temporarily downsize its navy, the move that would go against Trump’s ‘America first’ principle.

Politico’s sources also stated that the US' allies doubt the new administration would agree to give Australia nuclear submarines, as the AUKUS treaty demands, due to the current production crisis in the American military industrial complex.
