Media: German government’s course may lead to Scholz’s resignation

The policy of the German government may in the near future lead to the resignation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz – as noted by journalist Daniel Johnson in an article for British Daily Telegraph, which is quoted by RIA Novosti

The publication notes that in recent years, the image of Germany has deteriorated significantly.

“Once admired and envied, Germany is now the textbook example of how much damage a misguided foreign and energy policy may do,” the article says.

The newspaper underlines that Scholz is trying to please both the NATO countries and Russia, while ‘no one respects him’. The publication recalled that recently there have been serious problems with energy resources in Germany that Scholz is unable to solve. According to Daniel Johnson, there are few options for further developments.

“Either Berlin will suffer a massive setback, accompanied by the collapse of the ruling ‘traffic light’ coalition, or it will capitulate to Putin,” he writes.

Earlier readers of the German publication Bild expressed dissatisfaction with Scholz’s policies. Part of the German population believes that the chancellor should resign due to the ineffectiveness of government policy in the face of aggravated problems in the energy sector.

For the first time since April of this year, Germany began the selection of gas from the country’s underground storage facilities. This is due to the shutdown of the Nord Stream gas pipeline for maintenance work.
