Media: EU to get access to rare fossils in Latin America
According to CNN Brasil, the European Union will be able to access vital resources to support its economy and compete with China after the community signed a trade agreement with the countries of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), TASS reports
According to media reports, the deal with the countries of the Southern Common Market is of strategic importance to Europe. The EU is seeking to strengthen its position in the markets where China is actively promoting its interests, including South America. In addition, the EU is also trying to find alternative energy sources to Russia, so the agreement with Mercosur will provide an opportunity to gain access to lithium, graphite and other renewable energy sources to maintain the association’s climate course.
The EU and Mercosur countries concluded a trade agreement on December 6th, despite protests from EU farmers. Farmers and agricultural associations predict that the signing of the agreement will lead to dumping, prices will be reduced, but this will not guarantee that consumers will receive a quality and familiar product.
