MAZ signed memorandum of understanding and co-operation with two Cuban companies

The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) continues to develop its strategic partnership with the Republic of Cuba, with documents on mutual understanding and co-operation between the Belarusian enterprise and two companies from the island of freedom signed in Minsk, the MAZ media centre reports

“The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Belarus has hosted the signing of a memorandum of understanding and co-operation between MAZ JSC – Managing Company of BELAVTOMAZ Holding and the Cuban companies: Grupo Empresarial de la Industria Sideromecánica (GESIME) and Empresa Comercializadora DIVEP,” the MAZ media centre noted. “The document contains the basic terms and conditions for establishing a long-term strategic partnership and lays the foundation for establishing stable supplies of MAZ machinery to Cuba.”

The event took place in the presence of Cuban Ambassador to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez. The memorandum was signed by MAZ Deputy Commercial Director, Director for the Sale of Vehicles Abroad Aleksandr Atroshchik on behalf of the Belarusian side.

The partnership between MAZ and Cuba dates back to the 1960s, when the Belarusian company started supplying MAZ-500 trucks to this country.

The Minsk Automobile Plant is the flagship of Belarus’ automotive industry, specialising in the production of cargo, passenger, trailer and special equipment. The company manufactures about 500 models and modifications of on-board and all-wheel drive vehicles, dump trucks, chassis, tractors, timber trucks, trailers and semi-trailers, cranes, special equipment, alongside about 15 models of buses, trolleybuses, and electric buses.
