Maroon beret trials completed

Servicemen of a Special Operations Brigade of Internal Troops have confirmed their right to wear maroon berets – which are true symbols of strength, courage and honour

Having passed an 8.5km march over rough terrain, implemented various standards, overcome an obstacle course, coped with the assigned fire tasks (shooting from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a Makarov handgun and a machine gun), stood up against experienced maroon beret officers in 12-minute sparring sessions, 32 servicemen of the Armed Forces and employees of the Internal Affairs agencies were awarded by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Commander of Internal Troops, Nikolai Karpenkov.

“Maroon beret officers, as the most trained servicemen, are in the vanguard when responsible and complex tasks are being performed. You’ve conquered yourself today, being the successors of glorious traditions. I’d wish to address those who’ve failed to cope with the trial: each of you has your own time and everything will come true at the right moment. It’s simply needed to demonstrate your will, patience, diligence and make your way toward your dream,” the Major General stated.
