Many officials of Third Reich moved to serve NATO, expert asserts

Political expert Aleksandr Shpakovsky commented on the cases of demolition of Victory monuments in the West, stressing that, in this way, the authorities of these states seek to erase historical memory so that nothing could remind of who actually liberated Europe

“On May 9th, 1945, Hitler's Germany was crushed, but Hitler's Nazism was not completely destroyed. Many high-ranking officials of the Third Reich have successfully moved to serve in the NATO structures and the leading states of the North Atlantic Alliance. For example, the creator of Hitler's missile programme, Wernher von Braun, later worked for Americans, while Hitler's General Gehlen headed West German Intelligence Service. This list can be further continued. Naturally, they were nurturing revanchist plans throughout their lives – to pass them later on to their students and followers," Mr. Shpakovsky emphasised in his talk with the ONT TV channel.

The expert added that this also applies to what is happening in Ukraine, “The ideas of the followers of Bandera and Shukhevych are dominating there now. After all, we remember perfectly well who supported Western Ukrainian nationalism and the underground all this time, who gave shelter to the entire Ukrainian collaboration in their countries, who did not give many executioners who had taken part in punitive actions out to the Soviet Union.”

Mr. Shpakovsky believes a war for people's consciousness is in full swing in the West and Ukraine.

“This is the technology of so-called value subordination. Why are monuments being demolished? This is because they want to erase historical memory so that nothing reminds of who really liberated Europe," the political expert stated.
