Mandatory transport disinfection in force at Belarus border checkpoints

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, signed Decree No. 154 On Mandatory Disinfection of Vehicles to reduce risks of importation of pathogens of dangerous infections into the country – as informed by the Belarusian leader’s press service

Earlier, an experiment on mandatory disinfection of vehicles was conducted in Belarus. According to a Presidential decree as of April 26th, 2021, from July 1st, 2021 to March 1st, 2022, buses, passenger cars and trucks (from the outside) were subjected to mandatory disinfection at the Novaya Guta border checkpoint: more than 60,000 vehicles in total. Before disinfection, the State Veterinary Service selected and examined samples, some of which showed a positive result for the presence of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Based on the results of consideration by an interdepartmental working group under the Agriculture and Food Minister of the issue on expediency of introducing mandatory disinfection of vehicles, it was decided to extend the experience gained to all state border checkpoints. This decision is fixed in Decree No. 154.

BelGlobalGarant is defined as an organisation that provides paid services for mandatory disinfection. Payment will be made by purchasing a control stamp from Belgosstrakh and ASB Belarusbank JSC at checkpoints across the state border.
