Malkina: shortage of vital goods does not threaten EAEU
The Eurasian Economic Union is the largest net exporter of agricultural products in the world, so we are not threatened with a shortage of vital goods – as stated by the official representative of the EEC, Iya Malkina, during an online briefing, answering the question of whether problems with food or a sharp increase in food prices are expected in the current situation
“At the same time, in order to manage the risks from the imposition of sanctions and ensure food security in the EAEU, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) is taking the necessary decisions to increase the stability of the economies. For example, certain types of food and goods used in their production are exempted from import customs duties for six months: meat, dairy products, vegetables, sunflower seeds, juices, sugar, cocoa powder, amino acids, starch and other food products. The same measure applies to goods for the production of food products,” she explained.
According to Ms. Malkina, measures are also being taken to prevent interruptions in mutual supplies, as well as joint measures regarding the export of certain types of agricultural products outside the EAEU.
“I would like to note that in order to settle issues of prompt deliveries of agricultural goods within the framework of the EAEU, the industrial block and agro-industrial complex of the EEC hold sessions of a special working group,” summed up official representative of the EEC.
