The sides discussed the situation on the border of Belarus and the EU.

Mr. Makei informed Mr. Borrell on tightening of the migration regime in Belarus. He also emphasised the serious efforts of the Belarusian side to provide migrants with humanitarian aid, including in co-operation with public and international organisations such as the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Organisation for Migration, the International Children's Fund, the Belarusian Red Cross and Crescent Society, and others.

The Foreign Minister confirmed Belarus' commitment to a joint search for ways to solve the existing problems, including the early resolution of the migration crisis.

In addition, Mr. Makei emphasised Belarus’ principled position on unacceptability of sanctions as an instrument of policy towards a sovereign and independent state, their negative consequences for bilateral relations and for regional stability and security on the whole.

The sides agreed to continue contacts between Belarus and the EU.
