Macron recognised Russia’s security concerns

After his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, recognised Russia’s concerns on several security issues and called for an immediate search for compromises in order to create a new European security architecture. The French leader summed up the meeting results at a joint press conference with Russia’s Head of State, TASS reports.

“The coming days will be decisive and involve meaningful discussions. We have a will to work together to guarantee a new order of stability and security in Europe,” the French President emphasised.

According to Mr. Macron, the conversation with Russia is an important condition for ensuring peace in Europe. He drew attention to a mutual desire of Moscow and Paris ‘to work together to guarantee a new order of stability and security’.

At the same time, the French leader spoke out against the violation of Europeans’ rights while revising the security principles. He believes Russia intends to revise the 30-year-old agreements but this should not be ‘to the disadvantage of European principles’.

Mr. Macron urged, “It is necessary to find common positions in the coming weeks to defuse the situation.”
