Lutsky at Brest forum: Internet is one of areas of youth parliamentarians’ activity

For the youth parliaments under the regional councils of deputies, work in the field of advanced information technologies, artificial intelligence and the fight against information fakes is one of the areas of activity, including in the legislative sphere – as noted by Senator Igor Lutsky, the Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV channel, who has taken part in today’s regional forum of young parliamentarians in Brest

The forum started with a teleconference, which Chairman of the Brest Regional Council of Deputies, Senator Igor Brilevich held with the heads of legislative assemblies and youth parliaments of eight Russian regions.

Speaking to reporters after the teleconference, Mr. Lutsky called the initiative of the Belarusian side to gather everyone at the friendship teleconference interesting, “I saw that even regions of the Russian Federation, e.g., Irkutsk and Kaliningrad, which might not have crossed paths in real life, thanks to the Belarusian side discussed pressing issues that concern all of us: from the Bug River to the very east of Russia. The main topic was patriotism. Undoubtedly, everyone is concerned about it today. Due to the various geopolitical changes that are taking place in our and neighbouring territories, the theme of patriotism and preservation of memory is a core and key issue. The 80th anniversary of the Great Victory is our common pain and joy; we need to honour this date. How we will pass on the memory of those events to the younger generation and how the youngsters will further transmit it all depends a lot on the mass media. That’s why we are liaising with Russian regions; in March, a meeting of the Commission on Information Policy and Information Technologies will be held in Nizhny Novogorod dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory and co-operation between small towns of Belarus and Russia. As for the joint youth projects, the ONT TV channel implements youth projects in its Internet-directorate. Television is an adult audience. Internet is the youth territory. That is where we need to work.”

During today’s regional forum of young parliamentarians in Brest, the key topics for discussion were: development of youth parliamentarism and improving its effectiveness, preparations for the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia and youth participation in the Union State issues, creation of the republican centre for patriotic education on the premises of the Kobrin fortification of the Brest Fortress as a symbol of historical memory, joint projects dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory aimed at preserving the memory of the ancestors’ feat.
