Lukashenko explained Belarus’ role in special military operation

Answering questions from Russian journalists on the side-lines of the CSTO summit in Yerevan, President Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on Belarus’ role in the special military operation in Ukraine and the trend towards peace talks, BelTA reports

The President was asked about the likelihood that the Belarusian Armed Forces could enter the territory of Ukraine. “This is complete stupidity. If we get involved in this conflict directly with our Armed Forces and manpower, we will not add anything to this – but, on the contrary, we will make it worse. This is not the role of Belarus in this conflict," he stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko explained that Belarus has never refused to participate in the special military operation and it is involved in many areas, but without direct participation of its military. “We are not getting involved. We do not kill anyone, we do not send manpower there, because there is no need for this," the Belarusian leader said.

According to him, ‘this is not a trend’ now, and not military escalation but negotiations are necessary, “We need to come to an agreement: to reasonably negotiate and talk about peace.”

Meanwhile, according to the President, negotiations are hindered by those who are not interested in them at all, and this should be openly told to the international community. “It is necessary to present Ukraine, as well as Poles and Americans who are behind it, in a way they should be presented to the entire world. They do not want any peace talks. They, Americans (they rule there through Poles), have one danger: a nuclear conflict, nuclear weapons. Why? Because it will be hot for them then. It is their approach," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
