Lukashenko, Xi Jinping adopted statement on basic principles for developing exemplary relations of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership

Following the talks in Beijing, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of China Xi Jinping adopted a joint statement on the basic principles for developing exemplary relations of all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between Belarus and China in a new era, BelTA reports

During the talks, both in broad and narrow formats, the leaders of the two countries communicated much longer than planned, which clearly indicates a mutual interest in settling issues on the agenda and focus on results.

In the presence of the heads of state, a large-scale package of documents on co-operation across various fields was also signed.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Foreign Ministry of Belarus and China International Development Co-operation Agency to strengthen interaction for development and promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative.

The plan of the Year of the Regions of Belarus and China for 2023 was approved.

A programme of Belarusian-Chinese sci-tech co-operation for 2023-2024 was signed.

An agreement and a memorandum on co-operation in tourism and sports were signed between the relevant departments of Belarus and China.

A memorandum of understanding on co-operation between the State Control Committee of Belarus and the National Audit Office of the People’s Republic of China was signed.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Belarusian Ministry of Construction and Architecture and the Ministry of Housing Construction and Urban-Rural Development of China.

Agreements on co-operation were signed between the news agencies of Belarus and China – BelTA and Xinhua – as well as the National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus and the China Media Corporation.

In the presence of the heads of state, a memorandum of understanding was also signed on the implementation of co-operation projects using concessional loans from the Chinese government.

Another memorandum of understanding indicates significant completion of negotiations on the text of the draft agreement on trade in services and investment.

The Economy Ministry of Belarus and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce signed an agreement on deepening trade-economic liaisons between the two countries’ regions.

In the form of an exchange of letters, an intergovernmental agreement was concluded on the approval of a project for the supply of screening equipment for Minsk National Airport.

A comprehensive strategy for joint industrial development, implemented by the Industry Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Industry and Informatisation of the People’s Republic of China, was approved.

A protocol was signed regarding sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for the supply of products from Belarus to China.

A memorandum of understanding was signed in the field of co-operation in agriculture.

A plan was also signed to develop healthcare collaboration for 2023-2025.

A large block of documents signed within the framework of Aleksandr Lukashenko’s state visit to China concerns interregional co-operation, as well as finance, banking, information support for trade and through the Red Cross.
