Lukashenko: what Europeans are doing now will backfire on them later

During his meeting with the working group on finalising the new Constitution draft, the President also shared his view on the allegations coming from the West that Aleksandr Lukashenko forces them to play by his rules

“Well, don't play by these rules! Do the opposite. Meanwhile, they say they need to take these migrants and they will then knock Lukashenko’s trump card out of his hands. So, do this! Take these migrants away, and Lukashenko will have no trump cards. What kind of nonsense is this, what kind of stupidity?! They blurt out anything there. It’s complete madness to say that we are preventing the delivery of humanitarian aid. If not for this humanitarian aid, half of these people would have died there,” the Head of State said.

At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that refugees persistently seek to go to the EU. “They are very stubborn – agreeing to nothing and asserting that they wish to reach the European Union. Clearly, their relatives and friends are inviting them and waiting for them there. This policy (I don't want to be a prophet) and what Europeans are doing now will backfire on them in the spring. To organise a migration flow through Belarus is more trouble than it is worth. We have never done this and do not intend to do in the future.”
