Vladimir Putin mentioned that Russia supplies oil and gas to Belarus on ‘very favourable, preferential terms’, which confirms the privileged nature of the partnership and is a measure of support for the Belarusian economy.

“We’ve discussed price parameters in the energy sector,” the Russian leader said. “We may assume that all the main parameters, including those sensitive in terms of pricing in the energy sector, have been agreed upon.” According to him, co-operation in the field of peaceful atom is also systematically expanding. “Next year we plan to complete the construction of the second power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant,” the President said.

He confirmed that agreements on energy prices had been reached, but did not disclose details, “I have already said. I can only confirm that the agreements have been reached.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko explained that appropriate decisions have been made on this topic, which will be formalised by the governments of the two countries in the near future.

“I think then there will be a reason for us to talk. We have fixed our price, it is profitable for us. Russia helps a lot in this regard,” the Belarusian leader added.

According to him, new topics have also appeared in the field of gas supplies, but so far they have not been discussed publicly either.

“I will only say one thing: we are pleased with the results of the discussion of the common gas market, the concept and pricing for the next three years,” the President of Belarus said.
