Lukashenko visited Chinggis Khaan National Museum in Ulaanbaatar
The state visit of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to Mongolia continues. His plane landed at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport on the evening of June 1st.
The Belarusian leader was greeted solemnly, with the honour guard company and an escort of motorcyclists. In the rays of the setting sun, the atmosphere of the meeting looked very colourful. Mongolian girls dressed in national costumes presented Aleksandr Lukashenko with a traditional Mongol treat, aaruul (sweetened dried cottage cheese), on welcoming him near the plane.
The Head of State presented a bouquet of Minsk flowers to Mongolia’s Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg, who met him.
Today, on June 2nd, the President of Belarus visited the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, which actually welcomes such distinguished not every day. With that in view, the meeting was accompanied by a red carpet and the honour guard company. The Belarusian leader was greeted by Mongolian Culture Minister Nomin Chinbat and Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg.
The museum named after a great Mongolian khan was opened in 2022, in honour of Chinggis Khaan’s 860th anniversary. It is a major cultural, educational and research centre which keeps the chronicle of Mongolia from the time of the Huns Empire (the first nomadic state) until the 20th century. Actually, these are nine floors of history, which unique exhibits have been brought from different parts of the world. The artefacts related to Chinggis Khaan and the Mongol Empire have been collected in 14 countries.
The museum keeps utensils and clothing, tools and weapons, chain mail and harness, all kinds of jewellery, household items, paintings, and sculptures. There is even a mirror made of jade, as well as the largest image of Chinggis Khaan made on a cashmere canvas. A statue of the commander made of pure gold is also exhibited here.
The museum’s Director General, Sampildondov Chuluun, took Aleksandr Lukashenko for an excursion, showing him, for example, the hall with a silver tree. The latter was made by Italian craftsmen, and it symbolises Mongolia's historical connection with Europe.
During the tour of the museum, the Head of State left an entry in the Book of Honoured Guests.
Official talks with the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, will take place in Ulaanbaatar in narrow and expanded formats on June 3rd. The two leaders will discuss promising areas of co-operation to fully reveal the potential of Belarusian-Mongolian relations – primarily focusing on the possibilities of expanding interaction in the trade and economic sphere, the supply of Belarusian food and industrial products to the Mongolian market, and joint work in the agro-industrial sector. It is expected that, following the talks, the parties will sign a number of bilateral documents that will strengthen the foundation of bilateral co-operation.
In parallel with the events of the state visit, a Mongolian-Belarusian business forum will be held in Ulaanbaatar, during which representatives of business circles from both sides will be able to get acquainted in more detail with each other's capabilities and discuss practical issues in specific areas.
