Lukashenko: under no circumstances will we abandon our land and will not allow anyone to dictate us how to live and what to do
Belarusians are proud of their history and their land and will not abandon them under any circumstances – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during the Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends)
He noted, “I am very glad because I welcome more and more of our guests here every year on these evenings – sacred for our nation. First of all, these are real Belarusians: intelligent, kind, and honest who are able to work and celebrate together. Secondly, these are sincere friends who are interested in our richest national culture. However, in order to understand this culture, it is necessary to touch the ancient Belarusian traditions together with us. It is necessary to see the beauty of the Kupala night, to be inspired by the scent of blooming summer meadows. It is also necessary to feel how love and special respect for the Belarusian land and the Belarusian nation sprout somewhere in the depths of the soul, like a magical fern-flower.”
The President also added, “Everyone who has visited our country at least once and met our people, knows for sure that Belarusians are wise, dignified and free people. We respect our ancestors, and we know our heroes well. We welcome with an open soul all those who came to us with peace. We are always ready to share a piece of bread and give shelter to those who have lost everything. We are proud of our history and our land. Under no circumstances will we abandon this land. We will never let anyone to dictate us how to live and what to do. I know very well: a real Belarusian is one who has a home here and will always protect it, even with arms in his hands, if necessary. Because this home is our only one. We are responsible for it before those who were on this earth before us and before those who will come after us. It was not for nothing that our ancestors said: ‘One’s own house is your own mother, and someone else’s house is your stepmother’.”
