Lukashenko: Ukrainians always been treated humanely in Belarus

The Head of State said this today after voting in the constitutional referendum

Aleksandr Lukashenko commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to the Belarusian people, “This ‘small Napoleon’, excuse me for saying so, has appealed to the Belarusian people regarding the referendum – as if there is nothing else to do in Ukraine but to address the Belarusian people from a bunker and to advise them what to do. I am almost tempted to say that he is offering us to repeat the fate of Ukraine – not at the present moment, but at the time that preceded these events. They want Belarus to be like that. Neutral, independent, and so on.”

Speaking about this, the President recalled that Belarus has been neutral and independent since 2014. “Weapons were firstly brought to us from the territory of Ukraine, and then our fugitives went there – even before 2020. There, in their camps, bandit groups had been trained – not only for the war in Donbass, but also for provocations in Belarus. Protasevich is a fruit of their training: they tried to push this guy into the war in Donbass. Olinevichi and others… I have already forgotten their names. We have told you already: we discovered these weapons, caches, and so on… It was not enough. They later closed the airspace and imposed economic sanctions – being ahead of all others in the world,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, wondering: whom Zelenskyy is actually addressing.

“We have always humanely treated Ukrainians. We were doing everything [for them]. No matter what they tell me, we supply diesel fuel – 30 percent, if not more, to them. The same is with petrol: our Mozyr Refinery was working for Ukraine. They destroyed their factories. We supplied fertilisers to them when they needed, and helped them with sowing campaigns… What have we got back? Today he, as if after a hang-over or something else, I do not know, with this T-shirt on, starts addressing the Belarusian people. The Belarusian people actually have someone to be addressed by. Let him address the Ukrainian people and be responsible for what is happening in Ukraine today,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled his previous words that the current conflict in Ukraine is just the beginning, “If it continues like this, the worst will come and he will fail to hide in any bunker (American or any other). Therefore, today it is necessary to stop the war. I would rather not call it a war right now: this is a conflict. A war will start in a day or two, while, in three days, there will be a bloodbath.”

The President of Belarus was also outraged that, in his address to the Belarusian people, Zelenskyy turned to 1941. “He would rather keep silent; he is a Jew by nationality. How many Jews were burned here and in Ukraine? How many Belarusians died while defending Jews and Jewish children here? Does he think that we have forgotten Khatyn? So it is no need to talk about 1941-1945. We remember what Khatyn is. It is necessary to publish the latest map of the burned and destroyed villages and towns. We wanted to put red dots on the map where villages and towns were burned – and, listen, the whole map turned out to be red! He reminds me of the year 1941 when Bandera together with fascists were burning our towns and villages. What are you talking about?” he stressed.

The Belarusian leader admitted: he had managed to turn this page with his teeth clenched, but our people will never turn it over. “I repeat again: if they continue to behave the same way as they are doing now… They are catching Russians and Belarusians in Ukraine – beating them and taking everything away from them. Around two thousand people went to our neighbours to holiday but, at present, they are simply unable to leave the country – they are just beaten up. Is he [Zelenskyy] pushing me to launch a special operation so that I release my people there? Look, they do not know our special forces. Madmen! Do not touch people, they have come to have a rest at your country. Probably, there are a lot of relatives who live there. They started beating them, poisoning them. They are threatening us with terrorist acts. They have trained bandits from among the fugitives there. Note, they did not give them automatic weapons in Kiev upon submitting Belarusian passports. They have brought them down in groups, like barbarians, and are targeting Belarus,” he said.

The President summarised, “There is no need to attack us and howl back from Kvartal-95 [television entertainment production company]: ‘Belarusians, make the right choice’… Listen, you should better figure out your own choice. Half of Belarusians have already made this choice, so you are late. Why are they echoing with a single voice? Well, I talked to Emmanuel Macron [President of France], and he is also among these ones. It is like it was in 2020: the go-ahead was given, and all began singing with a single voice. We have already experienced this.”
