Lukashenko: true scientist’s goal is to ensure continuity of achievements and glorify the Fatherland

There is no more important goal for a true scientist than to ensure the continuity of achievements, to train a galaxy of successful pupils and to glorify the Fatherland – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at today’s ceremony of awarding doctor of science diplomas and professor certificates to scientific and scientific-pedagogical workers

“I sincerely wish that – following these new titles – you will reach the most important peak of scientific success, not simply saying your new word in science, but making the whole world talk about your achievements. After all, it is not the status that remains in history, but the name,” the Head of State addressed the scientists. “As I see it, there is no more important goal for a true scientist than to ensure the continuity of achievements, to train a galaxy of successful pupils and, of course, to glorify the Fatherland.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned Belarus-born Alferov, Vysotsky and Borisevich as a vivid example of his words. “They are not with us anymore, but these men left a large footprint on the sands of time, and their followers are your colleagues. That is why it is especially pleasant to see you – accomplished doctors of sciences and professors, together with your successful students – here,” he said.

According to the Belarusian leader, this suggests that established scientists are not afraid of competition with young ambitious colleagues, perhaps even dreaming of surpassing their teachers. Moreover, they are proud of them.

“This means that Belarusian science will definitely have a future. Therefore, set bold and necessarily noble goals for yourself, and let luck, support of your relatives and respect of the scientific community always accompany you on the way to achieving them," the President wished those present at the Palace of Independence before handing over well-deserved diplomas and certificates.
