“74 years ago, this solemn date became the most important starting point in the modern history of the Jewish people. We are proud that people from Belarus, including the first President of Israel, Chaim Weizmann, stood at the origins of the creation and development of your statehood,” reads the congratulatory message.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Belarusians and Jews have lived side by side for centuries, helping each other with a sincere heart even during the most difficult trials.

“Traditions of mutual support, openness, and friendship are now the solid foundation of relations between our countries. I am confident that a constructive dialogue across all areas of co-operation will continue to contribute to the well-being of our peoples,” underlined the President.

The Head of State wished Isaac Herzog strong health and success in his work, and happiness and a peaceful sky over their heads to all the people of Israel.
