Chinese President Xi Jinping and his spouse Peng Liyuan welcomed distinguished guests. Afterwards, a joint photo session was held, following which the leaders of the countries proceeded together to the podium at Tiananmen Square.

China commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. On this occasion, a large-scale parade was held in Tiananmen Square, the country's main square.

“We are ready to join forces to uphold justice, follow the right path and promote a correct historical perspective on the Second World War,” Chinese President Xi Jinping stated earlier.

Beijing is determined to resolutely defend the achievements of Victory in the Second World War. China will strive to ensure that the results of promoting global governance reforms and forming an international community with a shared future bring as many benefits as possible to all of humanity.

The large-scale parade was also attended by heads of state and government of over 25 countries.

According to Xinhua News Agency, a gala concert will be held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing the same day in the evening.
