Lukashenko told what idea still excites the minds of Polish elites

The President has conducted an open lesson themed as Historical Memory – the Road to the Future for Belarusian schoolchildren and students. Separately, the Head of State dwelled on the clash between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Tsardom of Russia, explaining, which state provoked the conflict.

“Our yesterday’s allies in the Battle of Grunwald betrayed us,” Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced. “Speaking modern language, they screwed us over. During the Livonian War, the ruling elite of the Kingdom of Poland squared off the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Tsardom of Russia against each other. There is a special nuance both in our and in Russian history: we were always deceived, we were always pushed together. Why? Historians need to answer this question. This is very important from a spiritual and moral point of view. Taking advantage of the weakening of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, it actually twisted the arms of our ancestors.”

He also drew parallels with modern times, “Poland seized the Ukrainian lands and forced the Grand Duchy of Lithuania to sign the Union of Lublin. Even at that time they needed all our lands. This idea still haunts the minds of the Polish elites. I have no claims to the Polish people yet. You know the current politicians whose heads are boiling.”
