Starting the conversation, the Head of State noted, “Recently, we have been talking a lot with the Russian leadership that the West has failed to bring us to our knees and pin us down. This, of course, is a great merit of the economic sectors you lead, above all industry. Together with Russians, we have set ourselves an ambitious task of overcoming our dependence on imports, and we have taken import substitution seriously. I think this is a big part of your work in Belarus with our Government to determine how we will move forward. I am grateful to you, the Russian Government, and the Russian President for funding many joint import substitution projects.”
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, these also include global landmark projects, e.g., the financing and production of the Osvey aircraft.
“This is a new page for us. We are also grateful to you for this. Maybe this aircraft will start the era of aircraft building in Belarus. You are a well-known person in this sphere. I think your support will be very important for us,” the President said.
