Lukashenko: the situation is very serious, I would even say dangerous

During his meeting with the State Secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Volfovich, the President of Belarus urged not to simplify military training in the current situation, noting that the Security Council, on behalf of the President, analyses the situation in the law enforcement agencies, informs the Head of State and co-ordinates certain activities – up to holding of specific exercises

“As a military man and former chief of the General Staff, you probably too much delve into the details – and that is good," the President said. “There have been command and staff drills recently, and I know all the positive aspects of these events. There have been much good. But what else needs to be worked on? The situation is very serious, I would even say it is dangerous. In no case should we simplify ourselves. No need to be afraid of anything. If we need to alert a military unit in line with the norms of wartime, then we should do this. If we need to mobilise it so that we can see if those assigned to this unit are alive, then we should mobilise it. If we need our territorial defence troops to get involved, then we should act in this way. If we need to inspect the people's militia and check on the spot what kind of fighters it has and what weapons they use, then we should do this – especially regarding the latter. This is because our people's militia is on the stage of its formation. Therefore, we should not forget these aspects, and you should have everything under control.”
