“The axe, which was made and handed over to the President by youngsters from the Minsk State Auto-Mechanical College, has passed its first and main crash test today!” the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel reports, accompanying the news with photos of the Head of State chopping firewood.

It is noted that the President has time to chop up only late in the evening, but he kept his promise.

As BelTA previously reported, the college students – guided by the President’s instruction to develop domestic axes which should be no worse than foreign analogues – organised the production of firewood chopping products in the workshops of the educational institution. “We hope that this product will become your favourite because it is made by the hands of our younger generation,” said Vladimir Shibeko, who heads the Minsk’s Zavodskoy District Administration, handing the axe to the President.

Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked for such an unexpected gift and promised to check it in action before the election and to provide firewood ‘from under this axe’ if necessary.
