The President of Belarus warmly congratulated his colleague on his birthday.

The heads of state also comprehensively discussed co-operation between Belarus and Uzbekistan: in bilateral and multilateral formats.

Belarus views Uzbekistan as a key partner in Central Asia and is ready to provide it with all possible support in the EAEU, also ensuring full-scale involvement of the country's economy in co-operation with the Eurasian Economic Union. The conversation also tackled Uzbekistan's support for an application of Belarus for membership in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation.

Touching upon bilateral economic liaisons, the presidents noted the growth of trade turnover. In January-May 2022, its positive dynamics remained to make $147.4m – or 130.7 percent against the same period in 2021.

As the two leaders agreed, there are many prospects for development of co-operation. These include increase in mutual supplies of products in demand in the markets of the two countries and creation of new joint ventures, among others. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Shavkat Mirziyoyev decided to discuss all specific areas of deepening co-operation in September, during their meeting in Samarkand at the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation’s summit.

The situation in Karakalpakstan was another topic of conversation, and the heads of state exchanged views on the events that had taken place there.

In short, the conversation between the presidents of Belarus and Uzbekistan mainly concerned the prospects for development of relations between the two countries.
