Lukashenko taking part in 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia
Aleksandr Lukashenko is taking part today in the sixth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) held in Astana on October 12th-13th under the chairmanship of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
The summit is also attended by the presidents of Russia – Vladimir Putin, Turkey – Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iran – Ebrahim Raisi, Azerbaijan – Ilham Aliyev, Iraq –Barham Salih, Palestine – Mahmoud Abbas, Uzbekistan – Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kyrgyzstan – Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan – Emomali Rahmon, and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, is taking part as the leader of an observer country.
CICA is an interstate forum created on the initiative of Kazakhstan in 1992, in which approximately 90 percent of the Asian continent is represented. It is aimed at creating conditions for dialogue, decision-making and implementation of security measures in Asia.
CICA includes 27 member states: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Vietnam, Egypt, Israel, India, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, China, Mongolia, UAE, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and South Korea. Nine other countries have observer status: Belarus, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the US, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Philippines and Japan. Besides them, CICA observers include five international organisations, including the League of Arab States, the OSCE, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries, the UN and the International Organisation for Migration.
