According to the Head of State, weapons were supposed to be used directly against him, the Russian military base and journalists – including Konstantin Pridybailo, from Russia Today.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that smuggled weapons from Ukraine had been transferred to Belarus even before, after the presidential elections – with an aim of killing the President, organising terrorist acts (for example, an attack on a Russian military communications hub in Vileika was prevented) and attacks on journalists.

This time, according to the President, the idea was to inspire refugees to use weapons in response to Polish security forces’ actions and, thus, to generate a conflict on the border.

"The State Security Committee did a good job: they detected an attempt to transfer weapons there on the stage of this action’s planning. We then began to guard this camp," the Head of State said.
