Lukashenko signed decree envisaging domestic COVID-19 vaccine production

The Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has signed a decree to implement an investment project on organisation of production of a domestic COVID-19 vaccine at BelVitunipharm JSC – as reported by the Belarusian President’s press service

The investment project envisages construction of a vaccine production facility in the village of Dolzha, Vitebsk Region (with reconstruction of the existing production). BelVitunipharm has been identified by the Government as the most promising site for pilot production of vaccines – based on its infrastructure readiness, availability of trained specialists, and possibilities for further development of a biotechnological cluster.

Our domestic vaccine is being developed by organisations subordinate to the Healthcare Ministry and the National Academy of Sciences. A series of the vaccine prototype version is ready by now.

The decree provides for exemption of technological equipment, raw materials and materials imported into the country for implementation of the investment project from import customs duties and value added tax.
