Lukashenko sent greetings to Xi Jinping on the occasion of 24th Winter Olympics opening

The President of Belarus sent congratulations to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of the opening of the 24th Winter Olympic Games 2022 in Beijing – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

“I am convinced that your country, which pays special attention to a healthy lifestyle and has outstanding achievements in sports, thanks to the diligence and professional attitude of the Chinese people to any business, organises this international sports festival at the highest level,” reads the congratulatory message

The Head of State noted that the motto of the Winter Olympics chosen by China – Together for a Shared Future – clearly reflects the desire of the mankind for common prosperity, peaceful development and new achievements.

“Let the Games be held exclusively in the spirit of true Olympism, outside of politics and for the glory of sports,” wished the President.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that he remembers with special warmth his visit to the Celestial Empire during the 29th Summer Olympic Games in 2008, which amazed the whole world with their scope, organisation and hospitality. The Belarusian Head of State recalled that China then won the medal standings, and Belarus showed one of the best results in its history.

“I hope that these Olympic Games will bring many pleasant moments to the fans of our countries via bright performances of Chinese and Belarusian athletes,” he said.

The President wished the Chinese leader good health, happiness and great success, and wished the athletes and guests of China beautiful and memorable Olympics.
