Lukashenko sent condolences over death of statesman and prominent politician Jiang Zemin

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has extended condolences to the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, over the death of Jiang Zemin – as informed by the Belarusian leader’s press service

"The Republic of Belarus has received the news of the death of a wise statesman and outstanding politician of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, with deep sorrow. He was a true leader who devoted his life to the tireless service to the Motherland, also making a great contribution to the revival of the great Chinese nation, that enabled China to become a powerful and economically prosperous state," the message of condolences reads.

The President noted that high professionalism and personal qualities of the dedicated member of the Communist Party won Jiang Zemin well-deserved authority and sincere respect – both in China and around the world.

"Jiang Zemin stood at the origins of the formation of Belarusian-Chinese relations, for many years contributing to their steady strengthening. He was the first leader of your country to visit the Republic of Belarus. I warmly recall personal meetings with him, which enabled us to open a completely new page in the history of co-operation between Minsk and Beijing, laying a solid foundation for today's ‘all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership’,” the Head of State stressed.

On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed deep condolences to Xi Jinping, to the relatives and friends of the deceased.
