Lukashenko sent condolences over death of former Pope Benedict XVI

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, sent condolences to Pope Francis over the death of former Pope Benedict XVI, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

"I learnt of the tragic news about the death of former Pope Benedict XVI with a feeling of deep sadness. His Holiness laid his life on the altar of goodness, peace, justice and love. He belonged not to himself, but to all believers, to the whole world – sharing light and wisdom," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The Head of State expressed confidence that Benedict XVI's invaluable contribution to the formation of a decent world and his great legacy will be preserved and multiplied by all people of good will.

"Please accept my sincere condolences, as well as wishes of courage and perseverance in connection with this grave loss," the message of condolences reads.
