Lukashenko: sense of unity in Alexandria is always more than enough for everyone
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, speaking at the Kupala Night Festival (Alexandria Gathers Friends), spoke about the atmosphere of the event
“It is at such a holiday that people understand well why the days of Kupala Night Festival are one of the most long-awaited of the year for the residents of Alexandria and its environs,” the Head of State noted. “They are preparing during many months, so that everything turns out well. After all, people are waiting for their dearest and closest friends.”
The President expressed his deepest gratitude to all those who, according to him, spared no time and effort to give everyone a wonderful holiday, “You know, I noticed that every year it becomes more and more beautiful thanks to those who put their hearts and souls in this bank of the ancient Dnieper River. I am very grateful to organisers and participants of the event in Alexandria.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko also thanked the audience, “This hall under the starry July sky cannot accommodate all those wishing. Millions and millions of Belarusians, as well as our relatives and close neighbours, will see us today and in the following days on television and on other mass media. You will rarely find at any other holiday so many people spending the weekend with their numerous friends, like here in Alexandria. The emotional atmosphere and sense of unity here is always more than enough for all our friends. I’m grateful to you that we again plunge into the Kupala fairy-tale together: kind, funny and necessarily with a happy ending. Believe me, we lack happiness today. I would like more, but in general, there is not much of it.”
The Belarusian Head of State noted that much new has happened in the year since the previous holiday, “Unexpected, pleasant and quite unpleasant, especially in our native Ukraine. You see what is happening there. Every day brings different news from there: happy, but mostly sad. But I am sure that this grey-haired Dnieper, which united our Slavic peoples, will soon see our Ukrainian friends here, on this river bank. We, Russians and Belarusians, are happy to see them at our holiday.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko wished all those present health and happiness, to live richly, to love their loved ones and their native Belarus.
