At today’s meeting discussing the results of Belarusian athletes’ participation in the 2022 Winter Olympics and prospects for winter sports development in Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed a member of the Council of the Republic, Dmitry Baskov, “You will act as the chief controller. You have huge powers and rights. Get together, if you want to work, review everything – including not only in winter sports, and kick the idlers out. Get things straight! I will not wait until the Olympics.”

The President said the Belarusian team’s performance at the Beijing Olympics was a failure. “We failed four years [of our work]. You spent the state money for nothing. There is only one conclusion: this cannot longer continue. I have set tasks for you. The state needs a result,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
