Lukashenko said he had COVID again – getting Omicron this time

"We observe that this Omicron is a completely different virus. Probably – I guess – it has transformed into ordinary flu,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “I am saying this as a person who had COVID-19 for the second time, which was the Omicron strain then.”

“It produces no pneumonia. For example, I continued working while infected. I learnt of the infection only in the end of it, after a test,” the Belarusian leader added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Russia has taken the right course in its fight against the pandemic and in treatment of people. “Russia has taken the right course – focusing mainly on outpatient treatment. People have different symptoms now. Of course, there are old people, there are those not immune to viruses. These are people suffering from cardiovascular [diseases – BelTA’s remark], diabetes, cancer or asthma. Of course, they must take care of themselves. However, it’s no need to worry too much. Life is going on,” the President noted.

In late July 2020, the Head of State said that he had had asymptomatic coronavirus. He continued working while infected then.
