Lukashenko’s working agenda in Oman continues: Belarus’ President has met with Deputy PM
The work of Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Oman continues. In Muscat, he has met with Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said – the second person in the state, BelTA reports.
“We have actually defined our action plan with the Sultan. We have set up an intergovernmental commission and since yesterday we have started working out a roadmap: a plan of our actions. The Sultan of Oman will visit Belarus in the middle of next year. We will approve this roadmap and plan,” the President said.
The Head of State noted that practical measures and steps in economic co-operation between Belarus and Oman will be implemented before that.
Earlier during the visit, Aleksandr Lukashenko held several rounds of talks with Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said. The parties discussed both strategic areas of interaction and specific plans to develop liaisons. It refers to the creation of a hub of Belarusian products in Oman for supplies to the markets of the region, as well as the establishment of joint ventures. In the near future, the parties will work out a roadmap for co-operation.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also familiarised himself with the logistics and production potential of Oman by visiting the Sohar Port and Freezone. He expects these facilities to become a reliable starting point for the development of co-operation.
In Sohar, the Head of State toured the fortress, one of the main local attractions, and a day earlier visited the National Museum of Oman.
The members of the Belarusian delegation also worked actively on the side-lines of the visit. Among them are the heads of the Foreign Ministry, the Industry Ministry and the Agriculture and Food Ministry. A series of meetings and negotiations with partners were held, specific projects were discussed, local roadmaps for co-operation were worked out, and bilateral documents were signed.
