“A serious work lies ahead, and we need to sort everything out. Nobody should act indiscriminately, since we could then lose our supporters – and we would lose them legally, including journalists who are at the forefront now, and who had hard times then. We must take this into account,” the President said.

According to the Head of State, those who have realised the harmfulness of their actions in the past and sincerely repented, should declare this publicly. “It is mandatory. Those who made posts on the Internet need to explain the reasons of those actions and to openly express remorse. We may also develop some other mechanisms and then – together with people, our society, journalists and bloggers who were at the forefront then – decide what to do with them. Meanwhile, it is necessary to make a step forward,” he noted.

The President added that each case should be considered individually, “It is necessary to clearly define who have really revised their views and want to live, study and work in peace, and who do not. At the same time, we must remember: it is possible that some might take advantage of our steps forward to cause us some damage, also in the interests of foreign special services – especially of our neighbours along the perimeter who behave meanly and even worse than other states located farer away from our borders. Therefore, our task – and I would like to emphasise this once again – is to ensure an individual approach to everyone and fairness in decision–making.”
