Lukashenko reported on best practices used at Dzerzhinsky agro-industrial complex
During today’s seminar on agriculture held in the Minsk District, Vladimir Lukyanov, the Director General of Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky, reported on the best practices of the agricultural enterprise
Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky is one of Belarus’ largest integrated agro-industrial complexes, which is expanding its multi-functional production every year. Its main areas are the production of poultry meat, pork, beef and deep processing. Branches of the agricultural enterprise are located in several districts of the Minsk Region. The work is based on a complete closed cycle. Last year, Agrokombinat Dzerzhinsky produced 330,000 tonnes of grain, which fully met its own needs.
“In terms of land area, this is more than a district. In terms of grain production, it is comparable with three Sovetsky districts!” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised.
The agricultural enterprise’s branded trade is represented by 105 stores across the republic, and there is a chain of restaurants and canteens.
The President asked Vladimir Lukyanov if there are any complaints about pricing, and he replied negatively. The Head of State drew attention to the fact that the experience of the agricultural facility should be taken and used across the country, “This applies to production, processing and branded trade. If possible, other companies throughout Belarus should adopt these practices and technology, at least when it comes to production. People will stop being offended. Here it is — a chain.”
Mr. Lukyanov also noted that the total number of cattle in the agricultural holding is 34,000, of which 11,800 are dairy cattle.
“We decided to try to conduct an experiment and build a bull fattening facility in the Slutsk District,” he said. “We have another farm there. We thought to develop fattening rather than dairy production. The Slutsk Meat Processing Plant is located nearby, which depends on the raw materials. We want to conduct an experiment on fattening 8-9 thousand bulls per year, work out mechanisms, approaches, and develop diets together with science. So that, after conducting experiments, we can achieve an average daily weight gain of 1,300-1,350 grams per day. We aim to develop technology and guidelines for cattle growing, keeping and feeding. Finally, we want to present it as a ready-made product for everyone. We have already selected the site and prepared the technology. Thus, we will provide 50-60 percent of the raw materials used by our meat processing plant and slaughterhouse. This will enable us to calculate costs, profitability, and financial results for a separate production.”
The preliminary cost of the project is about Br40-45m.
With the addition of other enterprises and farms, the agricultural plant doubled its gross production in five years. There are seven different investment projects in progress.
The Head of State raised the issue of training managers who could in the future head either the Dzerzhinsky agro-industrial complex or create other similar enterprises in the regions. Aleksandr Lukashenko asked how many similar leaders Vladimir Lukyanov had raised.
“Who can replace you tomorrow?” the Head of State raised a fundamental question.
“There are a couple of people,” the Mr. Lukyanov replied.
“Well, at least a couple. This is an important issue. It’s a good business. Therefore, we need to see people here who will create a similar farm tomorrow. If we create something like this, we won't have any problems with food and other issues,” the President stressed.
