The Chairman of the State Border Committee, Konstantin Molostov, reported on the overall situation along the state border, with particular focus on the Belarusian-Lithuanian section. He shared details about the operational situation, the activities of the border service agencies in co-ordination with other departments, and the implementation of the President’s instructions.
The discussion also addressed the development and improvement of the agency’s overall operations, identifying key areas that require close attention due to the current challenging conditions. This involves strengthening border security by upgrading and modernising border infrastructure and technical equipment.
Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov informed the Head of State about the border situation, where Lithuania’s closure of checkpoints has caused a backlog of over 1,000 trucks, some of which have been left abandoned along the roadside. He also provided an update on the ongoing efforts to relocate vehicles to secured parking areas, as previously instructed. The measures currently taken by the law enforcement authorities aim to ensure road safety. Following the President’s orders, drivers experiencing difficulties are receiving the necessary assistance. Mr. Kubrakov added that internal affairs authorities are closely monitoring the border area, with increased measures to maintain public order.
In today’s report to the Head of State, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov focused on co-operation with Lithuania. In particular, he outlined Belarus’ efforts to swiftly resolve the ongoing border crisis. The President has given the necessary instructions regarding future steps and Belarus’ negotiation position to restore normal functioning of the border checkpoints.
