Lukashenko reported by Golovchenko and Karanik on development programme until 2030 and preparations for meeting with scientists
On October 29th, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko received reports from Roman Golovchenko, the Chairman of the National Bank, and Vladimir Karanik, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service
The central topic of the National Bank Chairman’s report was the revision of Belarus’ socio-economic development programme until 2030. This task is being managed by a working group led by Mr. Golovchenko, with the completed document scheduled for submission to the President by November 1st. Today, the Head of State was reported on the programme’s main content, key industries and major areas of focus. The final version is expected to be presented for approval at the Belarusian People’s Congress — set to take place on December 18th and 19th this year.
Another topic covered in Mr. Golovchenko’s report was the progress on implementing directives issued during the President’s mid-September meeting with the National Bank staff and management. This includes efforts to enhance the banking system’s role in Belarus’ economic development, addressing both resource availability and inflation issues.
Additionally, Mr. Golovchenko provided updates on solutions developed to address challenging issues within the National Bank’s authority, particularly those that have attracted public attention and responses to appeals from Belarusian citizens.
Vladimir Karanik, the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, reported on the progress of preparations for the President’s meeting with the scientific community. It was emphasised that the scientific sector must make a significant contribution to achieving the country’s development goals in the upcoming five-year plan. The focus is on practical, application-driven innovations, strengthening the connection between science and industry, promoting import substitution, increasing export potential, and advancing innovative fields that are in demand within the real sector of the economy.
The NAS Head also informed Aleksandr Lukashenko about specific projects and developments related to the topics on which the Head of State had previously given directives.
