Lukashenko reminded local officials of their particular responsibilities

On October 13th, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko made a number of personnel decisions. In particular, the leadership has been updated in seven districts across the country.

Drawing from his recent trips to the regions, the Head of State has assigned several key responsibilities to local officials, stating, “I want you to keep in mind the most important point: there are no enterprises, lands, bushes or villages that do not belong to you. You are responsible for everything there. Whether it is a private enterprise under the republican government, or a company under regional or district authority — all of it is yours. And you are responsible for this.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko once again warned that such conversations should not take place, referring to what he heard after his recent visit to the Shklov District, where the chairman of the district executive committee mentioned that the farm appeared to be located within the district but was actually owned by the President Property Management Directorate.

“It can be owned by anyone, but you are responsible for maintaining personnel policies and order there,” the President addressed the chairs of the district executive committees.

The Head of State emphasised the importance of working with people, saying, “All villages, rural areas, towns and urban-type settlements belong to you, and the people living there are also yours. So put in the effort, don’t reject or push people away. It’s important for our people to meet and communicate from time to time. You shouldn’t see yourself as superior to ordinary citizens. These are our people, and we’re working for them.”
